Request: Nicolette

It's finally done! This is 's OC, Nicolette and bat on her leg is actually her animal form, but I thought it would be cool to draw them both in the same picture.
This was one heck of a challenge all around. For starters, I never in my life drew an anthro character, so I had to do a ton of experimental sketches before making the actual sketch. I kinda like how it came out. And then the problems started. Which led to discoveries.

My SAI gave out about halfway through coloring Nicolette so I had to do everything in Photoshop. As I was looking for the best way to make it look like my usual way of painting I discovered airbrushing. I think I'm in love. Then there was the bat. He just looks messy, because I had no idea how to properly color oversized bats. And let's not forget the tail! I couldn't make the lineart for it look even halfway decent so I skipped the lineart alltogether and made it lineless. Let me tell you, it was nerve wrecking all the way through.

And then there was the case of me wanting to make everything original, and not wanting to download a texture like a normal human, I had to be masohistic and do everything myself. The carpet, the clouds, THE WALL! All made seperately. Only when I was nearly done I noticed the pillows looked messy and plain. So I swallowed my pride and downloaded a nice simple floral texture. You can find it here -->[link]. There was also the issue of everything looking like it was drawn on a different picture: it was flat. I think I developed a new pet hate for toning. Want me to count all the filters and adjustments I had to use? I'll have grey hairs before I finish.

Okay I'm done with my rant. Anyway, all put together, it was one hell of a job, but I'm proud of it!
